Sex, Money, Murder started out as a street gang under the NYG Alliance in the Soundview section of the Bronx, New York City in 1987. SMM eventually flipped from the NYG Alliance to become sanctioned as a Blood set under the East Coast United Blood Nation (UBN) in 1993. The gang was fathered by Peter Rollack a.k.a. Pistol Pete from the Soundview Houses, a low income public housing development managed by the NYCHA. Pistol Pete is now serving a life sentence without parole on a plea bargain for killing 6 people. Even though SMM is no longer part of the NYG Alliance, they still throw up the number 7 hand sign (Gun) in honor of Pistol Pete. Sex Money Murder also uses the number code 252 or 252% to symbolize 25 to life in honor of the life sentence that Pistol Pete is facing for his gang. Sex Money Murder is known to refer to their set as “Murder Gang” for short and also go by the nickname “Blazing Billy”.

Over a relatively short time the SMM gang spread to other locations. They are primarily located in the Soundview section of the Bronx, as well as the South Bronx and many east Brooklyn neighborhoods like Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brownsville, and East New York. They have also branched to cities as far as Trenton New Jersey, Newark New Jersey, Camden New Jersey, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, Baltimore Maryland, and many other cities along I-95.

During the summer of 2002 Tommy Terrell Thompson a.k.a. ” O.G. Omega Red” moved from New York City to established SMM in Jersey City, New Jersey. On November 14, 2004 an 18-count RICO indictment charged Thompson with one count of racketeering conspiracy, one count of racketeering, encompassing specific and non-specific, ongoing acts of murder conspiracy, robbery and robbery conspiracy, heroin and cocaine conspiracy and distribution. The indictment also charged Thompson with nine counts of violent crimes in aid of racketeering, including specific attempted murders, murder conspiracy, robberies and shootings; four counts of possession, use and carrying of a firearm for violent crime; one count of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and heroin, and one count of heroin distribution. Thompson pled guilty on July 6, 2005, and admitted that he directed other members and associates of the Sex, Money, Murder set to commit acts of murder and assault and took part in one of the assaults himself. He also specifically admitted directing the murder of a Jersey City man whom Thompson believed was cooperating with cops against him and other gang members.

The Sex Money Muder Gang has reached it’s grips into the Hip Hop world with various rappers who are known SMM members. Some of these rappers include Hocus, S-ONE, Lord Tariq, Peter Gunz, Took, and Hussein Fatal of The Outlawz.
